My Mother's Memoirs
Recently, I've found some of my mum's personal momentos i.e. old photographs. When I looked at it, I feel like I'm venturing into an unknown world. Unknown but exciting. Looking at my mum at a young age made me feel...well, nostalgic. I guess I am a classic soul..if there is even a term.
The above picture is my mum in her early teens. Cute pula dia punya uniform ni dulu-dulu..
This was Mr. James Anderson. I don't know who is he, could be a pen-pal or something. Before there was social networking websites, we used to write letters to penpals, remember?
At the back of Mr Anderson's portrait was Mum's handwriting. I think it's the trend back then to write about someone at the back of the photo.
My late grandfather, Aki Tulas. Looking at his picture, I couldn't help but reminisce about my childhood. He was the best grandfather a child could ever have. I miss him so much.
My grandfather's handwriting at the back of his photo. He used to write diaries until his sick days. I can still remember seeing him writing into a log book about the "Rumah Sawang" (that's my grandparents' home in Melalap) being renovated. It was 1993. I think I took writing journals from him.
I guess pictures like this serve as a reminder that there is a legacy in our family. No wonder we love photographs :-)
Have a nice day!
