Heli..heli...
I know most of us think that helicopters flying by our rooftops are a common sight. I see a helicopter or two everyday because I lived near an old airport (which is now used as an army flight base).
My students apparently see helicopters as a rare sight. A very rare sight.
So, yesterday our school admin were informed about a helicopter landing scheduled at 10.30a.m on our school field.
10.35a.m.
I can hear the sound of the helicopter flying across the school. And the sound of students buzzing about it.
10.38a.m.
"NAH!!! HELIKOPTER!!!!!" exclaimed student A.
"Eih, dia limpas seja tu...nah..nah..ko tingu..." replied student B.
"MANADA!! NAH!! NAH!!! NAH!!!!!! DIA TURUN!!!!!!!" shouted student A excitedly.
10.40a.m
Students ran out of their classes to see the helicopter landing, which embarrassingly, I found myself in the midst of a sea of excited students. For the record, I also haven't seen a LIVE helicopter landing. To be with the students witnessing this rare event is quite...a learning experience.
"Helikopter apa tu, teacher?" asked one of the students.
"Err...yang tentera punya kali..." I replied. Well, I can see some white and blue colours on the helicopter, it might be an emergency helicopter or something. "Maybe it's a hospital's...dorang mau bawa orang sakit kali tu pi KK..." I added.
"Cigu pernah naik helikopter kah?" asked another one.
"Tidak, tapi di kampung teacher hari-hari ada helikopter limpas."
"Oh...(no feeling ni..)"
After two minutes, we all went back to the class. And the students were still buzzing about it.
I just can't believed that I saw a helicopter landed on our school field. Now, that is something you don't see everyday.
